Roger Gill re-elected as IHA president

Roger Gill was re-elected as the International Hydropower Association’s (IHA’s) president for a second consecutive term at the organisation’s October board meeting.

The Board, which includes several new members, began its two-year mandate in October.

A long-standing Board member, Mr Gill is Non-Executive Director of Pacific Hydro, a renewable energy development company owned by State Power Investment Corporation of China (SPIC). He said: "I’m honoured to be re-elected as president of IHA at this crucial time in the clean energy transition.

“Sustainable hydropower is essential to achieve global net zero ambitions. It has a key role in the successful integration of more variable renewables in electricity grids. I am proud to lead the IHA Board’s efforts to reshape the policies, practices and perceptions around sustainable hydropower.”

The inaugural meeting of the 2021 - 2023 Board on 21 October also saw the election of five IHA vice presidents:

Tammy Chu, Managing Director of Entura, Hydro Tasmania

Colin Clark,  Chief Technical Officer, Brookfield Renewable

Gil Maranhão Neto ,  Chief Strategy, Communications and CSR Officer, Engie Brasil

Anton-Louis Olivier,  Independent renewable energy consultant

Óli Gretar Sveinsson, Executive Vice President of Research and Development, Landsvirkjun
